Rosh Hashanah 2026

The Events

Six challenges. Two tribes. One championship. May the best team win!

1

Challenge One

Roll the Ball

Objective

Move the ball from the first person in line all the way to the last person without dropping it.

Set Up

  • Have everyone stand in a single line, one behind another.
  • Each person places both hands on the shoulders of the person directly in front of them.
  • The person at the front of the line starts with the ball.
  • Once the game begins, everyone must keep their hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them. The only exception is the person at the very front, who starts with the ball.

How To Play

  • When the leader says "GO!", the first person places the ball on their upper back, between their shoulder blades.
  • The first person slowly leans or moves forward, allowing the ball to roll down their back and onto their arms.
  • The ball should roll along the arms of the person behind them, using their arms as a "track."
  • As the ball reaches the person's lower arms, they must maneuver the ball up and over their head and into the arms of the person behind them.
  • The next person then repeats the same process: receive the ball, allow it to roll down their back and arms, then move it over their head and into the arms of the next person.
  • Continue until the ball reaches the final person in line.

Important Rules

  • Everyone must keep both hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them throughout the challenge.
  • No one may grab or hold the ball with their hands to help move it.
  • The ball must travel over each person's back, down their arms, and over their head before being passed to the next person.
  • If the ball touches the ground at any point, it must be returned to the front of the line and the challenge starts again.

Winning

The group successfully completes the challenge when the ball reaches the last person in line without being dropped.

2

Challenge Two

Eat the Ice Cream

Objective

Be the first person to finish an entire ice cream sandwich while wearing a dental mouth opener.

Set Up

  • Each participant receives one ice cream sandwich.
  • Each participant is given a dental mouth opener to hold their mouth open.
  • Everyone starts with their ice cream sandwich in front of them.
  • The ice cream sandwiches should remain frozen until the start of the challenge.

How To Play

  • Participants put the dental mouth opener in place.
  • When the leader says "GO!", everyone begins eating their ice cream sandwich.
  • Participants must eat the entire ice cream sandwich while keeping the mouth opener in place.
  • No hands may be used to hold or manipulate the ice cream sandwich once the challenge begins.
  • The ice cream sandwich must be completely eaten before a participant can claim victory.

Important Rules

Participants must keep the dental mouth opener in place for the entire challenge. If it falls out or is removed, the participant must replace it before continuing.

Winning

The first person to completely eat their ice cream sandwich wins the challenge!

3

Challenge Three

Ring Carry

Objective

Work as a team to carry a hoop around a designated pylon and back to the starting line. The first team to have all of its members complete the course wins.

Set Up

  • Each team lines up at the starting line with team members paired together.
  • The first two team members in each line will compete first.
  • A pylon is placed a designated distance from the starting line.
  • Each pair will carry one hoop.

How To Play

  • When the leader says "GO!", the first two team members step into position facing opposite directions, with the hoop positioned between them.
  • The two players use back pressure against the hoop to hold it in place. They may not use their hands to hold or support the hoop.
  • The pair must maneuver together toward the pylon, go completely around it, and return to the starting line.
  • Once they cross the starting line, they pass the hoop to the next pair of team members.
  • The next pair takes the hoop and repeats the same course.
  • Continue until every team member has completed the round trip.

Important Rules

  • Once the hoop has been placed between two players, neither player may touch the hoop with their hands.
  • The hoop must remain between the two players throughout the course.
  • The two players must work together and remain in contact with the hoop using only back pressure.
  • If the hoop falls at any point, the pair must stop where they are.
  • A teammate from the starting line must run to the pair, pick up the hoop, reposition it between the two players, and then return to the starting line.
  • The pair may not continue until that teammate has returned to the starting line.
  • Once the teammate reaches the starting line, the pair may continue from where they stopped.
  • The hoop must go around the pylon before returning to the starting line.

Winning

The first team to have all of its team members successfully complete the round trip wins the challenge!

4

Challenge Four

Pop The Balloon

Objective

Be the first team to pop all of its balloons and have all team members return to the starting line.

Set Up

  • Each team lines up behind a row of balloons.
  • The balloons are tied along a string or rope, with the string anchored securely at both ends.
  • The balloons should be positioned so that the team members can run around the end of the string.
  • Each team has the same number of balloons.

How To Play

  • When the leader says "GO!", the first team member runs to the end of the balloon string.
  • The team member must run around the end of the string and then run back toward the starting line.
  • As they approach the starting line, they must pop the balloon closest to the starting line.
  • After popping the balloon, the team member continues to the starting line and crosses it.
  • Once that team member has returned to the starting line, the next team member begins.
  • The next team member runs to the end of the balloon string, goes around the end, and returns toward the starting line.
  • They pop the next balloon closest to the starting line, return to the starting line, and the next teammate goes.
  • Continue until all of the team's balloons have been popped.

Important Rules

  • The runner must go around the end of the balloon string before returning to pop a balloon.
  • Balloons must be popped one at a time, starting with the balloon closest to the starting line.
  • The next team member cannot begin until the previous team member has returned to and crossed the starting line.
  • Team members may not skip balloons or pop balloons out of order.
  • All team members must complete their turn.

Winning

The first team to pop all of its balloons and have the final team member return across the starting line wins the challenge!

5

Challenge Five

Chicken Cluck

Objective

Retrieve a chicken from the bucket, keep it "clucking" all the way back to the starting line, and then return all the chickens to the bucket while doing the chicken walk. The first team to complete the challenge wins.

Set Up

  • Each team lines up behind the starting line.
  • Place a bucket filled with an equal number of rubber chickens a designated distance from each team's starting line.
  • Each team should have one chicken for every team member.

How To Play

  • When the leader says "GO!", the first team member runs to their team's bucket and grabs one chicken.
  • As soon as the player picks up the chicken, they must begin squeezing it.
  • The player must continuously squeeze the chicken so that it keeps clucking while running back to the starting line.
  • Once the player crosses the starting line, they must continue squeezing and clucking their chicken.
  • The next team member then runs to the bucket, grabs a chicken, and returns to the starting line while continuously squeezing their chicken.
  • Continue until every team member is back at the starting line with a clucking chicken.
  • Players must continue squeezing their chickens while waiting for the rest of their teammates.
  • Once all team members have returned to the starting line with a chicken, the entire team must travel back to the bucket.
  • The team must travel using the "chicken walk" — squat down, bend the knees, and waddle like a chicken.
  • Each player must continue to hold and squeeze their chicken while doing the chicken walk.
  • Once the team reaches the bucket, each player places their chicken back into the bucket.
  • The team must remain in the chicken walk until all of their chickens have been returned to the bucket.

Important Rules

  • Once a player picks up a chicken, they must continuously squeeze it until it is returned to the bucket.
  • The chicken must keep making its clucking/squeaking sound throughout the challenge.
  • If a player stops squeezing their chicken during, they must resume squeezing before continuing.
  • Players may not pick up more than one chicken.
  • The entire team must be back at the starting line before returning the chickens.
  • All team members must chicken walk to the bucket.
  • Each player must return the same chicken they originally retrieved.
  • All chickens must be returned to the bucket before the team can finish.

Winning

The first team to return all of their chickens to the bucket and complete the chicken walk wins the challenge!

6

Challenge Six

Granny's Catch

Objective

Work as a team to get all of your balls into the giant granny pants. The first team to successfully catch all of its balls and complete the challenge wins.

Set Up

  • Each team lines up behind a designated starting line.
  • Place the giant granny pants on one team member.
  • The person wearing the pants must remain inside their designated area throughout the challenge.
  • Designate a line as the throwing line.
  • Place the team's inflatable beach balls at the starting line.
  • Each team should have the same number of balls.

How To Play

  • When the leader says "GO!", the first team member picks up one beach ball and runs toward the throwing line.
  • The player may run as far as the throwing line but may not cross it.
  • From behind the throwing line, the player throws the ball toward the teammate wearing the granny pants.
  • The pants wearer may move anywhere within the designated area to try to catch the ball in the pants.
  • The pants wearer may never touch the ball with their hands. The ball must enter the pants without being caught or held by hand.
  • If the pants wearer catches the ball in the pants, the ball counts and the thrower runs back to the starting line.
  • If the pants wearer misses the ball, the thrower must retrieve the ball and return to the throwing line to try again.
  • The thrower continues making attempts until the ball successfully lands inside the pants.
  • Once the ball is successfully caught, the thrower returns to the starting line.
  • Once the thrower crosses the starting line, the next team member takes the next ball and begins their turn.
  • Continue until every team member has successfully gotten a ball into the granny pants.

Important Rules

  • The pants wearer must remain inside their designated area.
  • The pants wearer may not touch the ball with their hands at any time.
  • The thrower may not cross the throwing line when throwing.
  • A ball must enter the pants from a throw; it cannot be handed, placed, or dropped into the pants.
  • If a throw misses, the same thrower must retrieve the ball.
  • The next team member cannot begin until the previous player has successfully gotten their ball into the pants and returned to the starting line.
  • Each player is responsible for successfully getting one ball into the pants.

Winning

The first team to get a ball into the granny pants for every team member and have the final thrower return across the starting line wins the challenge!
