The Official Rules
Rules & FAQ
Over the years, we've learned an important lesson: the more complicated the game, the more likely someone is going to try to find a loophole.
So, to avoid unnecessary courtroom proceedings in the backyard, the rules for each event are clearly spelled out on the Events page.
If you have a question about how an event works, please refer to the official rules before attempting to challenge the integrity of the competition.
One Important Reminder
That said, these games are being played for one very important reason:
TO HAVE FUN.
We are not here to dissect every sentence, identify technicalities, exploit loopholes, or find creative ways to circumvent the rules.
This is Rosh Hashanah, not the Supreme Court.
The Competition
Scoring
Each event is worth 1 point. At the end of the competition, the team with the most points is declared the winner and earns the eternal glory that comes with Rosh Hashanah backyard supremacy.
HOWEVER…
There is one final and extremely important rule:
At the discretion of the Leader (me), the scoring may be changed at any time.
- Points may be added.
- Points may be removed.
- Rules may be interpreted.
- Rules may be reinterpreted.
There is no appeals process.
There is no higher authority.
There is no Supreme Court of Rosh Hashanah.
